In 2014, The Bear Creek Recreation Area saw significantly greater usage overall. The facility saw strong growth in annual memberships with the Okanagan Trail Riders Association (OTRA), strong day pass sales and increased campsite occupancy .
Weekly Wednesday night rides were consistently well attended, with the parking lot at full capacity on most evenings . Strong participation by local OHV dealers and sponsors in 2014 has continued the momentum seen in 2013, making Wednesday night rides a fantastic group riding experience with strong socialization amongst the OHV community in general.

In 2014, the OTRA hosted both a MC and an ATV Poker Run , with the focus on the family riding experience. In 2014 OTRA built new and re-groomed almost 25 km's of trails, plus installed 9 bridges! New trails have been successful in keeping riders coming back, and attracting new riders as well.

Bear Creek Recreation Area riders are predominantly made up of Okanagan riders, but an increasing number of visitors from Alberta and BC (Outside the Okanagan) are now making up the rider mix. Even a rider from Hong Kong was noted!

OTRA's on location Site Host was started as early as May 2nd and worked as late as November 2nd . Having the Site Host on site throughout the majority of the riding season had a great impact on OTRA membership growth and Trail Fee participation. Site Host Steve Sampson did a good job of balancing trail fee collection, trail etiquette enforcement, site maintenance as well as acting as the Bear Creek Riding Area ambassador.
Finally, and with great pride, the OTRA executive and many many other volunteers continued to pour thousands of uncompensated hours of work into the operation of the Bear Creek Riding Area. From executive meetings, running Wednesday night rides, to auxiliary Site Host support, and trail maintenance duties, over 2500 hours were donated.

Looking forward to continued rider growth, expanded trail growth into the West Terrace area, and continued volunteer and sponsor support in 2015.
